Day 1:

Stabilizing, lifting & capturing are the 3 vital components associated with a successful rescue operation when dealing with a confirmed pin. Remove any one of these, and the results could be disastrous for the victim & rescuers. The first day of this class is designed to provide students with a better understanding of the lifting & stabilization equipment typically used in the fire service.

Day 2:

The second day of this class is designed to build upon the students basic extrication skills and expose them to more advanced operations. The class will begin with an overall equipment review covering hydraulic tools as well as basic stabilization equipment such as cribbing, rescue jacks, & Paratech struts. Students will then be rotated through skill stations involving vehicle rollovers, side-resting vehicles, heavy frontal entrapments, and challenging rear entrapments.

Topics to be covered will include; side resting roof flaps, vertical crush techniques, inverted extrication techniques, third door conversions, modified dash lift, wide body conversions, tray cuts, & trunk tunneling.

Paul Debartolomeo has over 20 years in the fire service, and is currently assigned to Ladder Company 28 (FDNY) in Harlem.

This class will encourage participants to learn and practice the techniques required to resolve common and complex rescue problems. Class time will begin with learning the concepts and skills needed to perform common vertical rescue tasks followed by scenario-based evolutions.

Day 1 - High Rise: Suspended and stranded workers 

Day 2 - Tree Rescue: Stranded hunters and parachutists

Over the two-day class, participants can expect exposure to:

- Advanced anchoring

- Aerial apparatus rigging

- Ascension techniques

- Rigging for vertical and horizontal movement

- Personal and team based solutions utilizing modern hardware and techniques

Machinery rescue incidents can happen in any community and at anytime. The question is, how well will you be prepared to handle these emergencies? Our high paced class offer maximum "hands on" time that gives the student the best opportunity to learn the skills that are paramount for successful outcomes at these types of incidents.

The class includes: Cutting Torch Work, Hand in a Meat Grinder, Impalements, Disassembly, Arm Trapped in a Auger, Arm in Rollers, Metal Cutting, Lock Out Tag Out, Lifting and Spreading, and much more!

This class utilizes custom props that replicate common machines that people get caught in. The props maximize the learning experience for the student and ensure all students get the same experiences.

Your fire department is expected to rescue people. Be prepared !
